Cyclist Killed in Hit and Run in Draper, Utah
Draper police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed 60-year-old bicyclist Davis Stanger of Murray Sunday night. Police believe Stanger was riding his bike home from work when he was struck.
A passer by found Stanger's body with a bicycle nearby. Injuries to Stanger suggest he was hit by a car. Detectives think the car they are looking for is a white or silver Dodge or Chrysler with damage to the front.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about the crash to call 801-576-6300 or 801-840-4000. A $500 reward was being offered for information leading to an arrest. The Gooch Firm, P.C. called the Draper City Police Department to offer an additional $500 reward. Upon calling the sergeant in charge of the case we discovered that the assailant called in and confessed to the crime.
As of right now, the only information we have been given is that the driver of the car is a 17 year old girl. It is a tragedy that in one mistake, distraction or act of negligence this young girl has now changed her life and the lives of others forever. I can not stress it enough that motorists need to share the road and pay attention to cyclists.
